• Why Popular 8 Tech products got shutdown in 2018, find here

Already 2018 gave birth to several tech products. Simultaneously, many popular tech products closed its shop as well. No tech product is here to exist forever. Maybe tomorrow, some other product will take over and eventually win the customers confidence. Except a few, who could survive the change.
For instance, Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL etc. failed to live up to the changing trends and eventually shut their shops or taken over by biggies.
Here is the list of 8 tech products that were shut down in 2018!
    Klout

The social media influence platform Klout founded in 2008, decided to shut down on May 25, 2018. Klout provided the users with a Klout score, which was a measure of their social media influence. Lithium Technologies bought Klout for $200 million in 2014. In May 2018, Lithium CEO Pete Hess announced the shutdown, saying: “The Klout acquisition provided Lithium with valuable artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities, but Klout as a standalone service is not aligned with our long-term strategy.”

    Yahoo Messenger

Started in 1998, the Instant messaging service of Yahoo, Yahoo messenger was once the poster boy of instant messaging. Who can forget the “ASL” (abbreviation for age, sex, location) that users used to ask the strangers whom they meet through the platform.
Yahoo did not provide a reason for shut down, but the users were redirected to a new service called Squirrel, a group chat app. But Squirrel was rebranded again to Yahoo Together and the new Together app is available for both Android and iPhone.

    Path

Path which started in 2010 was a strong competitor to Facebook with more than 50 million subscribers. But eventually, due to concerns over security, Path’s subscriber base declined drastically. They sold the company to Korea’s Kakao. Kakao bought Path because it had a strong user base in Indonesia and was hoping to replicate the same in South East Asia. But plans did not work out and Kakao decided to shut down Path in last October.

    Google Allo

One of the Smart messaging app, Google Allo was created to compete with WhatsApp. But shut shop within 2 years. Started in 2016, Google cited its growing investment in its new messages product as the main reason for shutting down Allo. Although Duo took off, Allo failed to catch any traction, and it just makes sense to shut the app down at this point. Google has, obviously, introduced another messaging app – Android messages and that’s the company’s main focus for now may be #Game development services

    StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon was started in 2001, a discovery and advertisement engine that pushed the recommends of web content to its users. Its features allowed users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos that are personalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing, social-networking and advertising principles . The service got shut down in June 2018. The founders said they are creating a new platform called Mix.

    Google Inbox

This app was founded in 2014, could not really take off as Google anticipated. The company has announced that it will shut down the Inbox service by March 2019. Google launched the app as an experimental platform to test new features. However, the giant firm did not reveal the exact reason why it is shutting down this app service.

     Google URL shortener
goo.gl, was one of the most used tools by any marketer to shorten the lengthy URL for their websites like sports betting system software or blog posts. However, Google URL Shortener was shut down in March 2018. Google has recommended its users to adopt app-centric Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) or alternative services like Bitly.
“To refocus our efforts, we’re turning down support for goo.gl over the coming weeks and replacing it with Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL). FDLs are smart URLs that allow you to send existing and potential users to any location within an iOS, Android or web app. We’re excited to grow and improve the product going forward. While most features of goo.gl will eventually sunset, all existing links will continue to redirect to the intended destination.”

    GOOGLE +
Last but not least This Google’s social network, started in 2010, due to low engagement and recent bugs that exposed the personal profile data of over 50 million users forced Google to shut down Google +. Google will shut down its social networking service in April 2019.
The company disclosed software design flaws that potentially allowed outside developers access to personal information of millions of users.
